Westward Ho! Pebble Ridge
Introduction
The pebble ridge spit at Westward Ho! Is a unique feature, unlike any other similar feature in the UK, consisting of hard sandstone pebbles rather than shingle or sand. Nearby is the Northam Burrows Country Park. The visit also examines a number of coastal management techniques being used to protect the area from storm waves and rising sea levels. The village of Westward Ho! is part of the UNESCO North Devon Biosphere Reserve, the first of its kind in the UK.
