Introduction
Westcountry Rivers Trust (WRT) https://wrt.org.uk/ hosts a wide range of teaching resources for both primary and secondary. They also have a number of interesting Project Reports appropriate for A level and university use.
Here is a selection of recommended resources for teachers https://wrt.org.uk/teachers/
- SPONGE2020 – an excellent informative brochure outlining natural management options and case studies, addressing urban flood risk in Taunton http://somerset-sponge.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Sponge-2020-Taunton.pdf
- Urban Green-Blue Grids (https://www.urbangreenbluegrids.com/) is an excellent European website focusing on urban resilience in the face of climate change. Through a selection of case studies, sustainable solutions are presented to issues such as urban flooding and loss of biodiversity. Terrific for GCSE/A level urban and climate change research.
- Westcountry flooding StoryMap (https://wrt.maps.arcgis.com/apps/Cascade/index.html?appid=5527c98b001a426ea6b1bdd90b2c058f ) considers flooding events, causes and solutions
- River landscapes StoryMap (https://wrt.maps.arcgis.com/apps/Cascade/index.html?appid=b9fd2cd12f7f430e8adce1968ff09a6a) considers river landscapes in the SW
- River ecosystems StoryMap (https://wrt.maps.arcgis.com/apps/Cascade/index.html?appid=2e95eaf7ae4d4c148882ad607192e5e7) is not directly relevant to GCSE rivers but could work for GCSE ecosystems
