Sidmouth Science festival 2021 talks and events

The 2021 Sidmouth Science Festival from Friday 8 October to Sunday 17 October offers a wide range of talks, demonstrations, activities and displays for children and adults. This year's programme includes many live events in person at several venues around the town and on-line events and competitions for those unable to reach Sidmouth. Highlights for geography teachers and students include talks by Dr Alice Bell - Our Biggest Experiment: A History of the Climate Crisis, and Professor Peter Stott - Hot Air: The Inside Story of the Battle against Climate Change Denial on Saturday 16 October at 15.30 in the Parish Church, a zoom talk on Wednesday 13 October at 1930 by Professor Richard Thompson on Marine Litter: are there solutions to this global environmental challenge? and an evening talk on Friday 15 October at 19.30 by Professor Sir David Spiegelhalter - Communicating statistics to the media: highs and lows during the pandemic (so far) in the Parish Church.

On Saturday 9 October, all day events take place across Sidmouth including the Royal Geographical Society- Antarctic Computer Game, Jurassic Coast Trust - Fossil Handling and the Geologists Association - Geological game, all in the All Saints Hall. Talks on Saturday 9 October in All Saints Church include Dr Jenny Bennett on The Geology of the River Exe, at 11.15 and Richard Edmonds - Jurassic Coast, the greatest story on Earth at 13.15.
